Ashley Spitsnogle's Art
About Ashley:
I am an artist living in Omaha, NE. I graduated from Doane College (now Doane University) in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with an Emphasis in Painting and Drawing. The following summer, I traveled to Florence, Italy, where I studied painting and drawing at SACI (Studio Art Centers International Florence). After returning to the U.S. I illustrated the childrens book, Josh the Baby Otter for the JCMF (Joshua Collingsworth Memorial Foundation). I am their Art Director and have done all of the artwork for them since. The book is in every state and over 8 countries with Rotary International taking it on as a project. Over 1,000,000 books have been distributed. We recently partnered with Michael Phelps and his foundation.
I have painted live at the Cattlemen’s Ball of NE the past two years and will be painting this year in Hebron also. The ‘Black Legacy’ painting I did last year in Princeton was the first cow I had ever painted and it auctioned off for $8,000 and this year’s ‘1947 Omaha Stockyard’ auctioned for $6,500. I’ve been recently painting more Nebraska landscapes and animals.I will be painting live November 3 rd for the Teammates Mentoring Gala at Embassy Suites Conference Center in La Vista, where Peyton Manning is the guest speaker. I prefer oils and charcoal when painting and drawing. I love the way they mix on the canvas and the lights and darks you can get. I often use gesso for texture underneath and use my hands a lot when painting.
